Paradise River was founded in the Ninth Pass after Trader Jayge Lilcamp and his wife, Aramina, were shipwrecked and rescued by Shipfish. Stranded, they found an intact shelter, and within a few Turns they had turned it into a thriving Hold. The Hold is well known for it's unusual appearance: stone facing, an undamaged-slab roof left by the Ancients, wide porch and set off the ground so that storm-tossed waves wouldn't wash into the building. It has wide windows and louvers all having survived the passage of more than 2000 Turns. The supports for a pier were found that were unweathered, and this was rebuilt, providing a home for some of the Seacrafters. Fishing nets, built of an unknown and brightly colored material, had also survived the passage of time, and were put to use. The beaches are white and suitable for technical and laboratory glass, so during the Ninth Interval a small; glass foundry was established. During the Tenth Interval the Woodcraft moved their Hall to Paradise River, astonished by the quantity and quality of wood, for even some of the Fellis trees had grown to more than eighteen feet in circumference and the Mandamo's were plentiful.

Lord Holder Durshaun: Durshaun is the current Lord Holder for Paradise River. Although originally descended from a minor branch of the family, the disastrous effects of the illness have left the Hold in the care of his family. Lord Durshaun is a boisterous and energetic man known for having harsh mannerisms and taking an aggressive stand during business. While outspoken and demanding, his concern for the well being of Paradise River is genuine and seldom disputed. Lord Durshaun's hard nature is softened by the gentle, yet firm ways of his wife, the Lady Lailou. Together they see to the needs of the Holders and run the Hold in a well organized and pleasant fashion. Lord Durshaun and Lady Lailou have four children, though only one is still a child. Laishaun and Durlou, the eldest boys, help their father wherever needed and learn the important factors of being a Lord Holder. Most likely, one of them will succeed their father in the future. Shouan is younger and much more interested in the goings on of the Woodcraft Hall which has its Crafthall at the Hold. The baby of the family, little Laiduh, is only nine Turns and has her father wrapped around her little finger.

Standing only 5'8", Lord Durshaun is not the tallest of men. He carries himself in a proud manner to make up for this with his chest stuck out and his shoulders back. Dull brown locks laced with gray hang in shaggy curls over his ears and dust his forehead, kept just short enough to stay out of his eyes. The man's face is round with grayish-green eyes, a stubby, almost porcine style nose, and thin lips set in an ambiguously straight line. Durshaun is well muscled with a trim stomach, thick arms and sturdy legs. The Lord Holder wears loud, dark colors in the form of a rich tunic of burgundy with forest green and gold embroidery which belays his stature and style. This is accompanied by simple, tan breaches of a breathable fabric worn tucked into wide, black boots that have been well shined to remove any scuffs. His ensemble is finished off neatly by a black leather belt and a knot of bright red, dark brown and steel-gray at his shoulder. This is also threaded with gold to show it to be from a major Hold.
