Mastersmith Haiman, known for his work at Island River Hold, established a Hold in the Ninth Interval just beyond the conjunction of the Island River and an east flowing tributary north of Drake's lake. The remains of an Ancient solid stone building still existed, and documents found inside gave it's name: Roma. During the Tenth Interval the Weaver Hall, needing water to power its looms, moved their Crafthall to the Hold where a number of waterwheels had already been installed. The Hold is now known as a source of fine quality weaves and occasionally the source of a new fashion trend.

| Holder Pandion: | Seemingly
no corner of Pern has gone entirely untouched by the devastating force
of Nemar's Disease. Roma Hold endured fewer causalities to the illness
than most areas, but ultimately suffered just as much. Pandion, at
fourty Turns, managed to evade the plague -- yet his reliability and
accountability as a Holder was deeply shaken when his Lady, Orena
passed away from the dreaded illness. His fiercely stubborn, shortsighted
nature was always curved by the calming manner of his wife -- once
she passed on, however, he was overtaken by intense and transient
grief. That sorrow dissolved swiftly into bitterness. Without Orena's
balancing influence, his bullheaded tendencies have emerged full-force.
Overall, Pandion is a rather unpleasant, gruff, uncharitable and inefficient
Holder, which has caused considerable turmoil and dissent within the
residents of Roma, who are clamoring for his twenty Turn-old son,
Endrion, to take leadership within the Hold, for the young man is
in possession of a temper not unlike his mother's -- reasonable, logical,
compassionate, and persuasive. With every day, Pandion is increasingly
abandoning his duties, in favor of miserably wallowing in his declining
riches.
The man is not entirely unpleasant to look upon. He is roughly 6' tall, and of a heavy-set stature. His long blonde hair loosely frames a wide, fleshy complexion, and is often swept back into a loose runnertail, while his eyes are frigid, intense blue, and his complexion rosy. |
