Southern Hold was first established by F'nor, rider of Brown Canth, when he went *between* times to the Eighth Interval. A young Toric of Ista took Hold in Southern over a number of Turns, though he became greedy, taking more land than he could possibly handle. During the Ninth Pass Toric was confirmed as Southern's first Lord Holder. Southern Hold broke many traditions, including changing the rainbow sails on the ships of the North to a solid bright red. It is home to the largest harbor on the Southern Continent and is a rich trading center. Once home to the Healer, Weaver, Tanner and Smith Halls, Southern is now home to the United Crafthall of the Southern Continent, a place where all can study together.

| Lady Holder Sieren: | Southern Hold suffered many losses at the merciless hand of the plague, among those the Lord Esien and his Lady Fiora. Fiora's elder brother, Firoen, was initially selected to assume the position of Holder, but soon succumbed to the very disease that had killed the late Lady and her spouse. Thus, Firoen's eldest, his thirty-Turn-old daughter Sieren, was appointed to the position. Although she assumed the title of Lady Holder with minimal knowledge of the involved responsibilities, Sieren has never expressed hesitation, unease, or apprehension; she has thrown herself into the role with exhausting passion and seemingly boundless energy. If one word along could define the woman, it would be just that: energy, raw energy. She has enthusiasm, drive, and zeal. She is strong-willed and outgoing, and quite social (very fond of gathers, parties, and other get-togethers, at that). Much of the criticism that initially arose around the time that she stepped into power has drowned beneath the force of her animated, buoyant nature -- which has also served to knit the Hold closer together, as most residents are united in admiration or affection for their Lady. Even in the wake of the devastating disease, she has fought to bring hope and optimism to the Hold. Sieren is the sort to continually look forward into the future, toward what Southern Hold could become; she is ever-positive, and extremely forward, possibly to the point of coming across as brash or undignified. Even at her sternest, Sieren seems to be smiling -- eternally seeking that rumoured silver-lining behind each and every cloud that she faces. Her curly, dark brown hair is cut short, at her shoulders, in order to make it manageable. She has bright blue eyes, and a spattering of freckles across her tanned, handsome (yes, handsome) features. Her build is slender and athletic, as she is quite active, always bounding about; Sieren is but 5'4", and her attire is generally far more casual than one might expect of a Lady Holder. |
