The chairperson of the Weyr Council has numerous responsibilities, including but not limited to tallying Weyr Council votes, calling and chairing Weyr Council meetings, and acting as the official spokesperson for the Weyr Council in all matters directly or indirectly related to the Weyr Council. The chairperson of the Council will not speak on behalf of the Council without first having held a vote to recognize the opinion of said Council. The Weyr Council reserves the right to add, remove, or otherwise alter the rights of Weyr Council Chair as a committee as they see fit. The Weyr Council Chair shall be selected from existing, voting Weyr Council members by the Weyrwoman/Weyrleader of whichever Weyr's turn it is to hold said position.

The rotation of the Weyr Council Chair is directly related to the Search / Hatching cycle. Currently, the rotation is as follows:

Upon the rotation of the chairperson, the new chairperson shall select a secondary chair. In the event that the chairperson is unable to log in for more than one RL week, the secondary chairperson shall immediately resume the role of acting chairperson until such time as the current chairperson returns or the role rotates to the next Weyr.
