Weyrs

There are currently six Weyrs in the Southern Continent, all of whom are members of the Weyr Council, a membership that is exclusive to the twelve Weyrleaders and Weyrwomen of both continents.

SouCon currently has two Weyrs that are open for residency and the chance to apply for search. Southern, the oldest, is situated near Southern Hold, close to the ocean, and the tropical jungles. Ierne is on an island, further to the south.

The other four Weyrs are currently NPC, although both Honshu and Southern Barrier Weyr was formerly open on this game, renamed from Eastern Weyr. These Weyrs exist for background and roleplaying purposes, but the areas are not built. If you wish to play a character from one of these holds, you need do nothing more than create your character. The exception to this is if you wish to play a member of the Weyrwoman or Weyrleader's family. In those circumstances you need to mail the Weyr Council for permission.

A number of Holds, both minor and major, are beholden to one of the six Weyrs on the Southern Continent. The arrangement works for both; the Holds get protection from Thread for themselves, their Holds, and crops; and the Weyrs get tithed food and other items in return. PC areas are noted in capitals.
